History

Dr. Farah Ghaus currently holds the position of a Professor within the Department of Anatomy at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, situated in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Raised within the nurturing embrace of a mathematician father, Mr. Mohammad Ghaus Khan, and an economist mother, Mrs. Naseem, her formative years were adorned with the presence of her younger sibling, Nazish. Dr. Ghaus laid the cornerstone of her education at Saint Paul’s School and Kendriya Vidyalaya 1, both located in Shahjahanpur, a modest district nestled in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Dr. Farah Ghaus initiated her academic voyage by successfully qualifying the Pre-Medical Test (PMT), enabling her pursuit of MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery). Subsequently, she specialized in MD Anatomy at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University.

In 2008, she embarked on her professional trajectory by becoming an Assistant Professor in the same department. Over the years, she ascended the ranks to become an Associate Professor and eventually Professor.

Use of Technology

Dr. Ghaus holds various prestigious positions and accomplishments that highlight her expertise and contributions to the field of Anatomy. She occupies a significant role as a member of the advisory board for “Inderbir Singh’s Human Embryology 12th and 13th edition,” a testament to her influence in shaping pivotal academic resources.

Furthermore, Dr. Ghaus actively participates within the academic community, serving on editorial boards for several esteemed journals.

From 2010 to 2015, her accomplishments were commemorated in Marquis Who’s Who World, spotlighting her achievements and success story in distinguished publications. Her journey was showcased in the March 2023 edition of ‘The Lifestyle Magazine’ and ‘The Knowledge Review, May 2023,’ accompanied by a publishing certificate.

Her book titled “Development of maxillary sinus – A morphological study in human fetuses,”is an unequivocal testament to her specialization.

She has also chaired and adeptly moderated scientific sessions in numerous conferences, while also assuming an editorial role for the souvenir of the CME (Continuing Medical Education) held in her Department.

Her scholarly pursuits include reviewing substantial works, such as “Langman’s Medical Embryology, 2nd SAE” and “Histology: Text & Atlas, 2/e, By Brijesh Kumar,”.

About The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College

The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, affiliated with Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, INDIA is a prestigious institution of national importance.

The college, established in 1962, is renowned for its academic excellence and has consistently ranked among the top medical colleges in India. With 26 departments and 3 centers, the college boasts a faculty of 226 qualified and experienced teachers.

The Department of Anatomy at the college was established simultaneously with the inception of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College on October 2nd, 1962. Initially admitting a batch of 40 MBBS students, the intake increased to 100 in 1985 and further to 150 in the academic session of 1996-97. The department also offers an MD (Anatomy) course with an intake of 3 postgraduate students per year.

The department remains resolute in its dedication to upholding academic excellence and advancing research.

Dealing with Challenges

Upon finishing her post-graduation and Senior Residency at her alma mater, she encountered a sense of uncertainty regarding where to apply and how to initiate her career. Despite her efforts in attending interviews for positions in the Middle East, regrettably, she was unable to secure a role in that region.

Nevertheless, during that timeframe, an opportunity emerged within her department, drawing a multitude of candidates for a solitary position. The additional complexity of it being a male-dominated field posed an extra layer of difficulty. Nonetheless, by the grace of Almighty, she successfully secured the position.

Certainly, the presence of a supportive family can wield a significant impact during trying times. The steadfast backing and resilience offered by her affectionate husband, Naeem, along with her two sons, Taha and Tehreem, have undeniably played a pivotal role in her expedition. Their companionship and motivation have bestowed upon her the fortitude to surmount obstacles encountered along her path.

Five years ago, she attained the rank of Professor—a testament to her resolute commitment, proficiency, and unyielding determination in the realm of Anatomy.

Source of Motivation

Challenges function as potent motivators for her, propelling her to surpass her boundaries, exercise creative thinking, and discover inventive resolutions. She flourishes on the gratification and contentment derived from triumphing over arduous tasks or circumstances.

With its vast population and cultural diversity, India’s educational landscape is intricate and multifaceted.

The educational structure follows a 10+2+3 framework, encompassing a decade of primary and secondary education, followed by two years of higher secondary schooling, culminating in three years of undergraduate studies.
